I am a packrat... :(

Its really hard too... we move every couple of years and my husband hates taking all my "crap" with us each time. I finally agreed that the next time we move I will go through everything in storage and throw out a lot of stuff. But it wouldn't be in storage if I had a house big enough to hold it all...

Heather - You are just too much girl!! lol

See, it was the reverse for me and my Mother! She told me she was going to leave everything for me to have to go through when it comes her time to 'move on'. I said, "Oh I don't think so you crazy Dago!" ((We can say that to each other - it's funny rather than mean)).

Anyway - I decided I should get a jump start on it - haha, now I have the fun of watching her collect new things for me to get rid of later!! lol

She's a 'collector of sentiment' (which is a nice way of saying "PACK RAT")!!

What to do what to do!! lol

Wow Wolff, you are quite the woman!!! I just move when the junk gets to be to much. I say I moved to Benning to be close to my hubby but you found me out. I was living with the in-laws and junked up their house too much so I moved and left them with the mess. I even told them that it was like living with my parents...you know, like when you move to college and you leave your room at home for mom to clean up because they don't mind cause they are just happy you still need them for something. hahaha Little do they know...you just didn't want to clean it up.

Actually- I am 3/4 of the way done!! I filled a quarter dumpster with garbage that my Mom went through at my, ahem 'gentle prodding' !! Almost done now. Classifying and organizing to be finished up!! Woohoo!

Think of all the treasures there... How is the cleaning going? You can't possibly be done yet... Not if there is that much to go through...

I love your posts Wolff!! They make me laugh which is something I haven't done much of this week. Thank you!

who wants a clean house? Wolff does!!!

You should call the Style Network and have them tape an episode of Clean House then you can promote your upcoming book while getting organized :)

Look on the bright side, it sounds like a big job and there is nothing better then mindless manual labor to take the stress away.

HAHA I don't think I can say anything. I have started accumulating many boxes of fabric and quilts that are in various stages of completion. Though I am trying to go through it and stop myself from buying anymore until I use/sale what I have now.

Good luck!

Well, it's not exactly a hobby, but I am going to embark on a rather perilous journey through that which is......dun dun dun....my parents' basement!!

Yup, I have no more excuses! No longer can I visit them and try to ignore the 30+ year accumulation of treasures and craft supplies. No longer can I sit idly by whilst I hear about the rampant disappearances of fabric bolts meant to be used for a quilt to be made. No longer am I able to ignore the chaos that has entombed an otherwise large space in which many crafts and projects could easily be completed!

Why you may ask?...........................................

Because I now live here!!!! Yes, since the sale of our house on November 24th, we agreed, to my parents' pleading, to stay here for the remainder of our residence in this state. To help them out as much as it would in turn, help us out. I should have known that lurking beneath the pleas and platitudes of fun and togetherness, there were underlying, nay, ulterior, nay, evil forces at work! Sneaky sneaky sneaky!!! I love my parents to death! Wouldn't change having them for the world - but boy oh boy, they sure know how to lay it on thick!!! lol

AND....since I took up residence in the aforementioned basement (I curtained off a corner for myself), I can no longer ignore it - even if I wanted to! There is no place to hide (except amongst the jumble), and I can't say - "well, time to go home..." HA! I am home!!

So, to get me out of my current funk - yes I said funk. I will endeavor to claim, organize and restore the Mount Everest of all foundation-based homes...........THE BASEMENT!

Then, I will revisit the writing of my novel which I have not looked at for five years!
