There's never harm in asking...

Most of the cadre are very professional when you ask them directly. My husband has asked for any and everything he wanted during OCS and the worst he's been told is, "Not yet" and "I don't know when you'll be able to do that".

Honestly, If they are respectful and explain what's going on, the cadre are good about answering honestly and being professional. It's not like they're in Basic. They're adults ;)

Just tell him to ask a Captian in the cadre. The worst they can say is no. And then, why don't you just take a trip to where he is and have a wedding done in the chapel there? You can dress cheesy and get faux Vegas pics taken by his buddies.... make him wear a feather boa and pretend. It's cheaper too! :)

First thing I would have him do is find out if he needs to get a travel pass (usually if it is over 250 miles, but this also depends on the unit he is with). I would expect it to take a week to get the pass once he turns in everything (most units say to have the request put in at minimum a week ahead of time so that command can review it). In order to get a travel pass, he will have to get a POV inspection, risk assessment, and a leave form.

Good luck!!!

Labor Day Question!!

Post by smachael » Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:49 am

Hi Ladies!

So, We are thinking of taking a trip to Vegas to get married on labor day weekend. We have a large wedding planned for the spring but after all the stress we figured why not run and get married in VEGAS!?!?!

Being a newbie in Army life I have a question-
I know Labor Day is a Holiday and 4 day pass but what are the chances that my fiance will have to work Friday? He is in a transition period and may or may not be in Airbourne.
Can he let a superior know that he is getting married ahead of time? He is always very concerned about asking for anything which I understand but we do need to make plans asap.
Any adivce would be amazing!!
Thanks so much!! :D :D
