Ds works 70 hr weeks, hopefully he can go and see the sights someday. Miss his smiling face, Skype does help, but he is always working, he could be working in a MUCH worse place right?
Hope all you ladies enjoy Korea, we are debating on planning a spring trip for a visit, maybe Japan instead.
:)

So glad you arrived safely, Ds stated it took 2 weeks to adjust. He really likes Korea, but a little tired of the rain. Former Florida boy, was already sick of rain.
Good luck in your new home, hope all goes well, and that nut case up North behaves himself :? .

So my DH and I arrived safely in Korea! The flight wasn't too bad, because they had some good movie and music selections. We were able to get a little sleep, too, but not nearly enough!
We're both still pretty tired. My DH is inprocessing this morning (as he did last night for a few hours) then we're going to Camp Humphreys to try to start getting things settled. We both have bags under our eyes. lol
It is so beautiful here! I love the rain, so the fact we came during monsoon season is fun! :D
Good luck to anyone who has yet to arrive!

You will be staying here in Seoul upon arrival for a week for inprocessing. Once you arrive at the Dragon Hill give me a call and I will come over and take you to breakfast/lunch whatever you would like while your DH is inprocessing. I can take you around the area if you would like.
I will pm you by Korean cell phone number and email address.

You will be here right around the corner. I have been told that rainy season will be starting anytime.

I'm rarely on here, but I thought I'd post an update!

My husband and I got concurrent travel, and we're leaving on July 7th, set to be in Korea on the 8th. TBOLC (Tranportation) graduation is this Friday, and he's taking leave until the 7th. We're going separate places. lol But we meet up in Nashville on the 6th then leave the next morning!

Moving week was so much fun (yeah, right). I had two days for the storage shipment (packing, then loading), then a day off, then another day for the Korea shipment. The transportation office at Eustis didn't really want to give us an express shipment, but we didn't figure we'd need it anyway. So our HHG shipment is scheduled to be in Korea in mid-August.

We've been on the housing list at Humphreys for nearly 6 months, and haven't seemed to make much progress. We're hoping they'll have somewhere on post to put us up so we don't have to live off-post without a car!

Adrianne, we'll have to meet up if we're ever in each other's backyards...lol.

Adriane,
Yay, happy you made it, took Ds a couple days to adjust to time change. Ds rec'd his shipped goods quickly, hope the same happens for you.
The way we flew in there was not much jet lag on our part. It was great. Our express shipment got here before we did and our HHG should be here by the end of the month. SOunde like we will have housing next week.

If you son ever needs anything or just wants a home cooked meal tell him to give us a call. I will pm you my phone number here.

I am LOVING it here so far. Everyone is friendly and you can walk from one end of the base to the other in less than 30 minutes!

hey adriane,
DH is assigned to Korea for his duty station in Dec. His RFO says that he is going to be in Casey.. we still wanted to try for a command sponsor tour..I know there is probably no housing at Casey.. Were trying to find someone that is a lil more south he can switch with.. but hopefully they could put me and the kids in Seoul.. can you tell me what the first step is that we need to take to apply for it? He is currentlly in BOLC II at Sill.. I'm at Gordon.. he will be here for SOBC in August.
He will have to wait until he is done with BOLCII most likely since he will most likely not have time to make phone calls. You may be able to go to the AG building at Gordan (not sure how Gordan is set up). You will need to have the AG office or the S1 for SOBC to sign the EFMP form. Once that is signed you will need to go to the EFMP office at the hospital and get everyone cleared. They will also tell you if you need any shots. Once that is done your husband will have to fill out the request and have it signed off on and sent here to Korea. They just changed the CS things here so you will only have to wait approx 6 weeks for approval.

We are stationed at Yongsan (Seoul). There is a waiting list for housing, but it is not bad. They promised that we would be in a house by the end of june. We get to stay in the Dragon Hill Lodge until then so it is fine. This place is GREAT, plus they pay for it.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
Adriane.. thank you so much for the help!! I feel a little better about it all.. now to see if he can swap with anyone a little more south.. than casey..hopefully.. 8O .. I remember the dragon hill lodge.. AWESOME!!! so it looks like if he can't get some place more south than casey.. were going to be in Seoul as well.. I hope I get a chance to meet you in person :D would be great!!
